Styles of Weaving

The individuality and care taken throughout the entire weaving process has been the primary factor in the development of unique styles of weaving in the Fraser Valley. These unique weaves contribute to the aesthetic and to the functionality of the finished product. The diagonal weave is an excellent example of function, as a diagonal weave in basketry can allow a large basket to easily fold flat for storage or transportation. Additionally, a weave can also reduce or increase the amount of material required to cover a desired area.
