Transformer Sites

The Stó:lō traditional territory, Solh Temexw, is filled with transformer sites. These manifest themselves in the form of significant rock formations and other landscape features. Transformer sites were created by Xa:ls , the Transformer from the distant past. Stó:lō elders remind contemporary peoples that traditional stories are true and actually happened. Transformer sites also remind us of the intimate relationship between indigenous peoples and their environment. Xa:ytem is one of the many transformer sites within traditional Stó:lō territory.
