Woolly Mammoth

A widely-recognized symbol of the North American Ice Age, the Woolly Mammoth became extinct about 10,000 years ago. The Woolly Mammoth thrived in a tundra environment, and used its long ivory tusks to clear ice and snow from the low shrub vegetation it grazed upon.
