These are the Tsachilas of Ecuador. They are sometimes called Colorados because they color their hair with red dye that is also used to color butter in North America.This is a Medicine Man who would treat mostly middle-class Ecuadorians from the city of Quito. He was famous in the region for treating conditions such as alcoholism by ways of de-conditioning. Patients would be de-conditioned with an emetic root, which they would chew while drinking beer. This causes the patient to vomit. The process is continued until the smell of beer alone will cause the patient to vomit. This is an example of Pavlovian de-conditioning.
