Case: CFR 139 Calculating Stature
Stature refers to an individual's physical height. In life, stature is usually measured in centimetres or inches from standing, and may be recorded in a variety of documents like medical records or driver's licenses. When human remains are found, anthropologists assess stature as part of the biological profile because height may help characterize the individual. If only skeletal remains are found, anthropologists can calculate a person's height by measuring their arm or leg bones (i.e., "long bones").
