The next step in creating the biological profile is to assess the ancestry of the unknown individual. Although both a socially and biologically complicated task, ancestry might be able to distinguish individuals who are very similar up until this point. Because ancestry relates loosely to geographic origin, individuals are usually categorized as coming from Asia, Africa, or Europe.
