The forensic botany lab received the samples from the crime scene.

By analyzing the plants and plant parts (like pollen grains, plant fibres and root segments), the forensic botanist may be able to estimate the time since death of an individual, connect a suspect to a victim or weapon, determine that a body has been moved, or suggest the season in which an incident took place.
